Wishful Wednesday

Fleece Lined Tights!!!

I know this isn't the most visually appealing Wishful Wednesday post, but oh. my. gosh. the idea of warm and fuzzy tights gives me a cozy feeling just thinking about them! After reading a few reviews, it doesn't appear they add any bulk, which was one of my main concerns after hearing about these dreamy  tights. I do wish I could find more color options, so if you know of any more places that sell them in a variety of colors, let me in on it please :)

Also, the Thanksgiving weekend totally threw me off of my regular posting schedule (if I ever really had one). All I wanted to do was eat, hang with family, sleep and repeat. It was great.
Here's to the Christmas season YAY!!! Best time of the year, hands down.

P.S. I finally received a not-so-nice comment (in person) on my mustard yellow tights. I figured it was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people just can't handle so much amazing color on legs. Stay tuned for my next outfit post where I will share the details. It's funny...really...

Wishful Wednesday

This week I am wishing for everything and anything having to do with deer.
I have mentioned many times how I love anything animal, and these are no exception....

Maybe it's the upcoming holiday season, but I can't get enough of these guys and how cute would it be to decorate with those little adorable figurines?!

I am kicking myself in the booty for not getting a sweater at F21 a few weeks ago that I was eyeing and contemplating. It was gray and had a black deer on it, similar to the green sweater, but on a smaller scale.
Now I can't find it anywhere online...booo me.

What are you wishing for this week?

Favorite Fall Foods: Pumpkin Coconut Bread

Need some Thanksgiving food inspiration?
This Pumpkin Coconut bread is so yum and so simple.

What you need:

1 can pumpkin pie mix (Good stuff. Just pure pumpkin puree + spices)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup light coconut milk
1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 unsweetened coconut flakes

Steps:

1.In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin, brown sugar, oil and coconut milk.

2. In another box mix together flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.

3.  Whisk wet and dry ingredients together.

4. Stir in the coconut flakes.

5. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.

6. Pop in a pre-heated, 350 degree oven for about an hour, depending on your oven (check after 45 mins). You will know it's done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Let cool in pan for 5-10 mins.

8. Slice and serve while still warm.

9. Watch your friends/family be delighted with a mouth full of moist deliciousness.

P.S. While baking, this smells better than any pumpkin scented candle known to man.

Hope you enjoy!

Foxy Faux

So, I finally found the perfect faux leather jacket I had been searching for (hence the title).
It fits like a dream and is actually quite toasty...which came in handy in the chilly weather today.
Tim and I went for a walk around a near by park since it was such a fabulously beautiful fall day....

After the park, we warmed up by taking advantage of this buy one get one free deal at Starbucks.
So happy that holiday drinks are back. Yum.

Also, while at Trader Joes today, after standing in line for a few minutes tooooo long...I ended up telling the cashier that, "kids are weird!".
When I get annoyed I usually end up being too honest. Opppps.

Here's what happened:
There was a lady and her kid in front of me in line; he was busy boppin' around hitting his advent calendar on everything in sight and getting a little too comfy in my space bubble.
While it was his mom's turn to check out, he proceeded to stick his head up the back of his mom's tightly fitting, long coat. His head was basically planted in her butt.
When she starting walking away, he starting yelling (more like screaming, but it was muffled by her butt and coat) "AHHHH Mom, I'm stuck....Owwwww...owwwww..STOP...STOP!!!"

The cashier laughed upon me saying that and then turned very red. It was awkward.
:)

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!

Wishful Wednesday

1. 2. 3. 4.

Since the weather has been getting colder and we are getting closer and closer to winter, coats have definitely been on my mind lately.
I own a few that I like, but they are more classic looking and neautral colored. Not a bad thing at all, because they will always be "in style" and match with everything. But I can't get enough of these coats! From the high collar, darling lace trim, wonderful red, and the faux fur lined hood, these details are just so fun and give your winter coat a bit more personality.
Who says you can't stay warm while looking cute? Not I. Not I my friends....

What are you wishing for this week?

Going Dotty...

Lately, I have been really drawn towards navy blue, mustard yellow and red.
Can't get enough of these three colors. So great.

A few months ago, while dress shopping, I saw this dress at UO and loved it....only they didn't have it in my size. Bummer. So I got this dress instead at that time.

Wellllll, last weekend while birthday shopping, I stumbled upon that same dress at a different UO, in my size, on the clearance rack for half the price. Score!

I snatched that baby up so quick......it has all three of those colors in the form of cute little dots!

While Birthday shopping, I also picked up that super, duper comfy mustard cardigan, adorable little bicycle necklace, and patterned, red tights.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The weather around here has been really gloomy, rainy and stormy the past few days....but that's the Pacific Northwest for ya :) I was lucky to find a moment in time to snap these photos...

Wishful Wednesday

Aren't these blouses pretty and oh-so-feminine?! Tops like these are definitely lacking in my closet mainly because I like to buy dresses more than anything else....but I sure wouldn't mind having one of these dolls to wear with a pair of high waisted cords.....

What are you wishing for this week?

P.S. This is my 100th post....took awhile to get here.....haha

Favorite Fall Foods: Veggie Chowder

What sounds better than a chowder (or soup) on a cold, dark fall evening? Not much.
As soon as the weather gets cool enough, I whip this recipe out.  So yummy, simple and gives you that cozy homey feeling as you are enjoying it.

What you need:

1 tbsp olive oil
1 red onion, diced
2 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
3 garlic cloves, crushed
3 small diced Yukon Gold potatoes
2 tbsp flour
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/4 cups vegetable stock
1 cup broccoli florets
2 cans of corn
3/4 cups grated cheddar, plus more to garnish
salt and pepper

Steps:

1. Heat oil in large pot. Add onion, bell pepper, garlic and potato. Saute over low-medium for about 5 minutes.

2. Stir in flour and cook, stirring for 30 seconds. Gradually stir in milk and stock. (add more stock/milk if you think it's needed, I add a little more of both liquids)

3. Add broccoli and corn kernels. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, then reduce heat and simmer with lid on for about 20 minutes or until all veggies are tender.

4. Add 1/2 cups of cheese and stir until melted.

5.Season to taste with salt and pepper.

6. Ladle into bowls, top with some more cheddar.

7. Put in mouth. Yum.

I love/recommend serving with fresh, warm sourdough :)
Hope you like it!

P.S. Sorry for the lack of step by step photos. I really like showing the steps in photos, but cooking on a work night is a quick, no-nonsense task for me....haha

ALSO, thanks so very much for all the kind Birthday wishes :) You all are the best! I had a great Birthday weekend, filled with sweet gifts, good company, very yummy treats and some much enjoyed shopping! Can't wait to show you guys some of the stuff I got....

Wishful Wednesday

I would be happy with any one (or two) of these........

Left to right-Top to bottom:

If you have noticed, purses aren't really my thing. BUT lately, I have been scoping out bags that I wouldn't mind having.....

I think I have one post where I am wearing a purse. I have a grand total of three purses. The one crossbody that I use daily(see above link), a tote that was woven out of recycled fabrics that I used to use daily, before I got aforementioned crossbody; it has now turned into an overnight bag for all my toiletries. Lastly, a foldover purse that I got from H&M a few years ago that I still like and would probably use, but it has been sucked into the abyss that is our hallway closet...I obviously don't like it enough to spend my time scouring through boxes to find it though.

Maybe my trusty ol' Target crossbody will be getting the boot soon? Or at least be sitting on the side lines to be put in rotation so I can have a little more variety from time to time....

Only two more days til' the weekend!
